Dung Fu

Dung Fu honestly began sort of as a joke when I was coming up with ideas for my final project in one of my senior-level college courses. A large part of the project included research, for which I had chosen the topic of psychological training in MMORPGs. It was during my research that I came up with the idea for this game. My plan was to have a game with content nobody would be interested in, but it would have some of these same behavioral conditioning principles implemented. My reasoning was that I could prove these psychological tricks actually worked if I managed to keep somebody engaged in this game for more than a few minutes. I don't know if I actually proved anything, but I feel good about the fact that we had to pry our volunteer away from the game so other folks could present their projects.

Originally built as a Flash game from scratch in Actionscript 3, the current iteration of Dung Fu is a cross-platform game built in HaxeFlixel. I am currently targetting mobile devices and PC, but hope to also eventually release the game for consoles. In Dung Fu, you control a roll of toilet paper from a bird's-eye view and fight your way through hordes of shit in different environments. In the words of the original game, "you are the punisher of poop, the destroyer of dung, the bane of bowel movements. It is your duty to wipe this world clean of all the excretory evils that have invaded it."

Please enjoy these short clips from a recent build of the game.
